Start with the objective, not the route

Balance distance, difficulty, participant density and learning content. Checkpoints should be safely accessible, maintainable and compatible with normal campus operations. Large activities should avoid sending everyone to the same location at once.

Review with consistent definitions

Registrations, participations, valid starts, finishes, distance and quiz interactions count different things. Define them before launch so the final review can compare objectives, identify friction and guide the next program.

How long does campus orienteering take to prepare?

It depends on venue, scale, existing maps and approvals. Even a small experience needs surveying and testing; a large cross-department event also needs time for approvals, content review, capacity tests and emergency planning.

How can checkpoint congestion be reduced?

Use multiple starts, staggered waves, route variants, free-order rules or timed entry, and limit density based on passage width and checkpoint capacity.

What is the most important safety work?
